Itinerary

Marhaba: Welcome to Morocco! Marrakesh is one of the most atmospheric cities in the world and is divided into two parts. One is the traditional city known as ‘Medina’, and the other is the modern European-influenced district known as Gueliz or Ville Nouvelle. As you arrive at your centrally located hotel, you will observe the stark contrast between the two parts. Upon reaching the hotel, you’ll meet your fellow travelers over a welcome dinner.

A city tour is in store today with planned cultural attractions to mosques, historical monuments, old medina and souk. You can also opt to go for a hot air balloon ride which we can arrange for you in the early morning before the city tour. Morocco is considered an imperial city, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and a major economic center and tourist destination. It has the largest traditional market or souk in Morocco. The city is home to several historical monuments and tombs you will see during your tour, including La Koutoubia (from outside), Dar El Bacha, and Jemaa el-Fnaa square, considered one of the best-known squares in Africa.

Embark on a captivating journey as you bid farewell to your morning and set forth towards Ouarzazate. En route we will cross the highest mountain pass in the Northern Africa region - Tizi n’Tichka located at 2260 meters. Post lunch you will stop to see the fortified red earth Kasbah of Ait-Ben-Haddou, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is the most famous ksar (a group of traditional earthen buildings surrounded by high walls) in the Ounila Valley representing the culture and architecture of southern Morocco. Prepare to be awe-struck by the magnificent Kasbah of Taourirt. This majestic 19th-century palace, with its grandeur and historical significance, beckons you to step into a world of opulence and intrigue. From there you will continue to the city of Ouarzazate, where you will stay overnight.

On the 4th day, the convoy will go off-roading in 4x4 cars scaling the desert, en route you will have the opportunity to see El Kelaa M’gouna (Valley of Roses) near a small town located in Tinghir Province, Drâa-Tafilalet. The journey will continue to Dades gorges, a series of rugged wadi gorges carved out by the Dadès River in the high range of the Atlas Mountains, flowing some 350 kilometers (220 mi) southwest before joining the Draa River at the edge of the Sahara. The manycoloured walls of the gorges range anywhere from 200 to 500 meters (650 to 1600 feet). The convoy then moves to Erfoud, a small Sahara desert oasis in the Drâa- Tafilalet region of eastern Morocco. It is known as the gateway to the Sahara. Famous for its fossils dating back hundreds of millions of years and the photogenic ancient Ksar M’Aadid, 5km north of town. From there, you will continue to your private camp in the Erg Chebbi desert.

A day full of immersive experiences begins early. Enjoy a sunrise camel ride. Head out for breakfast in a majestic tent in the desert, followed by a memorable day in the desert. Drive your 4x4s for a heart-warming self-drive experience. After a morning of exploration, treat yourself to a delightful lunch, savoring flavors that dance on your palate and nourish your spirit. But the true magic awaits as we visit a nomad family, extending a warm embrace of hospitality and friendship. Step into their world, where time slows down and ancient traditions come to life, enjoy tea with them before returning to your private camp.

As we step on our wheely friend, the convoy sets off towards Ifrane, a town filled with an abundance of attractions and scenic wonders. Along the way, be prepared to be captivated by the charm of small villages and the breathtaking landscapes that unfold before your eyes. Our first stop is at Errachidia, a city nestled in the Saharan region. Next we stop at the enchanting town of Midelt to indulge in a delicious meal amidst its serene atmosphere, situated in the heart of Morocco between the Middle Atlas and High Atlas Mountain ranges. Finally, we reach Ifrane, where you will spend a memorable overnight stay.

Let’s proceed towards the captivating town of Chefchaouen. Step into a world of tranquility as you embark on a walking tour through the town’s narrow, winding streets adorned with mesmerizing blue-painted walls. The sight is reminiscent of far-off lands, evoking glimpses of the vibrant hues of Rajasthan. During your exploration, you’ll have the opportunity to discover the remarkable Kasbah, a fortress-like structure that stands as a testament to the town’s fortified past. Lose yourself in the bustling souk, where vibrant colors and the scents of exotic spices fill the air, offering a feast for the senses.

Today we set our course for Tangier, a city steeped in history and brimming with enchanting attractions. Our first stop takes us to the tomb of Ibn Battuta, a renowned Moroccan explorer whose legendary travels spanned the globe. Next, prepare to be awestruck as we venture into the mystical Cave of Hercules. After an exhilarating morning, it’s time to indulge in a delightful lunch at Tangier Beach. As you savour delicious local cuisine, bask in the warm Mediterranean sun and soak in the breathtaking vistas of the Strait of Gibraltar. No visit to Tangier is complete without a visit to the local market before we head to our hotel for overnight stay.

Embark on the final leg of our journey as the convoy departs from Tangier towards Casablanca via Rabat. Enjoy a delightful lunch in Rabat, immersing yourself in the city’s rich history. Moving forward to Casablanca, known for its modern architecture and lively atmosphere, beckons with its vibrant energy. Our arrival at the hotel signals the beginning of a well-deserved rest, where you can relax and reflect on the incredible experiences that have unfolded throughout our adventure. Casablanca’s modern allure and vibrant energy await, promising a memorable conclusion to our tour.

After driving through Morocco’s history, culture and shifting natural landscapes for the last nine days, we hope you’ll have added a fresh perspective to the human experience. The richness of Morocco, from its people to its culture, can only be appreciated when witnessed first-hand. The journey comes to an end, but as they say, the end is an opportunity for new beginnings.
